I've always enjoyed that rare 2 hour catnap right in the middle of the day. It's the sleep you're not SUPPOSED to be enjoying, at a time when all the other unfortunate souls are toiling away in the world of responsibility and accountability. The sun is up, the workaday world is churnin' along, but you, you're like,"Fuuuuuuuck ittt,,,,I'''''mmmmm......driffftnngggawwwaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy...."
Now I'll admit, even after reading the posts around this tribe, I know very little about sleep research. But I wonder if that midday sleep isn't somehow "hardwired" into our evolutionary sleep cycle? I know that many countries still observe the delicious respite from the hottest part of the day.
Lucky for me, two daze a week I work a 7 to 3 shift, so I come home to a silent house, empty except for two sleeping cats who have the right idea. It's a blissful, replenishing experience and I'm grateful for it.

My weekend is incomplete without a two hour nap. I would absolutely do it every day if I could. Nothing better than lying down in a comfy spot, quiet house, broad daylight, and dreeeammming.
Mmmmm. What a guilty little pleasure. I wish I were a cat. -

I'm beginning to think that if there IS reincarnation, good humans can choose to be cats with opulent lifestyles. I don't know what my lucky little beasts did, but when I think of all the days I've worked in my life whilst they slept and slept, they must have been virtual Mother Teresas in their past lives...

the Big Girl sleeps 9 hours a night! and yawns and naps all the time. She's grown too, a 30-something! She's part cat.
