Once, I drifted off to sleep but really slowly. I remember getting up out of bed and walking across the room to a tall dresser. Then inexplicably I fell over and was sort of slumped down against the wall. At some point I realized that I wasn't actually on the ground but dreaming. However I had the distinct feeling of being in both places at once.
At that point I had to will myself awake.
That night I think I had balanced on the edge of being awake and asleep for a few minutes. Unlike nearly all of my dreams I can still vividly remember walking across the room and then falling down. And I can remember what it felt like to be in both places at once.
bizarre.

Re: Have you ever woken up outside your body?
Mon, November 15, 2004 - 5:47 PMNo but I have always been grateful I don't sleep walk. That seems creepy.
What about talking in your sleep. I have had a couple girlfriends who did and it can be strange. -

Re: Have you ever woken up outside your body?
Wed, November 24, 2004 - 10:03 PMThe lame thing for me is when I'm almost awake, or snoozing, and I get up , get ready, take a shower etc... then realize that I was dreaming it and have to do it all again. Anyone else get that? -

Re: Have you ever woken up outside your body?
Wed, November 24, 2004 - 11:56 PMyep, been there.
Far more common for me is to incorporate the sleep destroying sound emitter (my alarm) into my near-waking dream. Here's one of the worst:
I'm walking along a riverbank. Its sunny and it looks like someplace in north florida. Suddenly there is a wall of large appliances like washing machines and ovens blocking me from the river. That's bad but suddenly I hear an alarm. Its like the kind of alarm you'd hear from a washing machine or oven. I start crawling over over these things to find out how to shut it off. That went on for several minutes before I was able to wake up.
